slow-burn (too slow at times), atmospheric, thought-provoking, reminiscent of "the dictionary of obscure sorrows", makes you wonder if you're constantly watched by somebody else. The numbness and depressiveness of the protagonist, and the sense of existential dread are emotions I'm all too familiar with, "I was once alive".
Well done film about peoples life in China under Mao. Its not only a great history lesson, since most of us know very little about China, but the few cliches presented by our watered down media. No surprise that it was banned in china. As we follow this families struggle through
